Apple Bars


Ingredients

1/2 c. boiling water
  • 1/2 c. dehydrated apples (or 1 apple, cored and sliced)
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour 8x8 inch baking pan.
  2. Pour boiling water over dried apples. Let stand at least 5 minutes. Set aside. In a large bowl, mix melted butter with sugar and egg. Mix in flour, baking soda, and cinnamon, and then stir in apple and walnuts. Spread batter into prepared pan.
  3. Bake for approximately 40 minutes, or until a small knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

Caramel Apple Pork Chops


Ingredients

1 c. boiling water
  • 1 c. dried apples (or 2 apples cored and sliced)

  • 4 (3/4 inch) thick pork chops
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons pecans (optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 175 degrees F (80 degrees C). Place a medium dish in the oven to warm.
  2. Pour boiling water over dried apples. Let stand at least 5 minutes. Set aside. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brush chops lightly with oil and place in hot pan. Cook for 5 to 6 minutes, turning occasionally, or until done. Transfer to the warm dish, and keep warm in the preheated oven.
  3. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, salt and pepper, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add butter to skillet, and stir in brown sugar mixture and apples. Cover and cook until apples are just tender. Remove apples with a slotted spoon and arrange on top of chops. Keep warm in the preheated oven.
  4. Continue cooking sauce uncovered in skillet, until thickened slightly. Spoon sauce over apples and chops. Sprinkle with pecans.

Autumn Spice Ham Steak


Ingredients

1 c. boiling water
1 c. dried apples (or 2 apples cored and sliced)

  • 1 1/2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 (2 pound) ham steak

  • 1/2 cup maple flavored pancake syrup
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions

  1. Pour boiling water over dried apples. Let stand at least 5 minutes. Set aside. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the ham on both sides in the butter until browned. Lay the sliced apple over the ham. Pour the syrup over the apples. Reduce heat to medium, and simmer, stirring occasionally until the apples are cooked through.
  2. Sprinkle with cinnamon, and serve immediately.

Apple Pie


Ingredients

9 inch double pie crust

  • 4 c. boiling water
  • 4 c. dried apples (or 8apples cored and sliced)

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Pour boiling water over dried apples. Let stand at least 5 minutes. Set aside. Melt the butter in a saucepan. Stir in flour to form a paste. Add water, white sugar and brown sugar, and bring to a boil. Reduce temperature and let simmer.
  2. Place the bottom crust in your pan. Fill with apples, mounded slightly. Cover with a lattice work of crust. Gently pour the sugar and butter liquid over the crust. Pour slowly so that it does not run off.
  3. Bake 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Reduce the temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Continue baking for 35 to 45 minutes, until apples are soft.

Apple Strudel Muffins

MUFFIN BATTER INGREDIENTS:
1/2 c. boiling water
1/2 c. dried apple slices (or 1 apple cored and diced)
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 1/3 tsp. vanilla

MUFFIN TOPPING INGREDIENTS:
1/3 c. packed brown sugar
1 Tbsp. flour
1/8 tsp. cinnamon
1 Tbsp. butter

DIRECTIONS:
1. Preheat oven to 375. Grease a 12 cup muffin pan.
(Make Muffin Batter):
2. Pour boiling water over dried apples. Let stand at least 5 minutes. Set aside.
3. In a medium bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, and alt.
4. In a large bowl beat together butter, sugar, and eggs until smooth. Mix in vanilla. Stir in apples and gradually blend in the flour mixture. Spoon the mixture into the prepared muffin pan.
(Make Muffin Topping):
5. In a small bowl mix brown sugar flour and cinnamon. Cut in butter until mixture is like coarse crumbs. Sprinkle on top of mixture in muffin pan.
6. Bake 20 minutes in the preheated oven or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the muffin comes out clean. Allow to sit 5 min. before removing muffins from pan. Cool on a wire rack.

Apple Oatmeal

1 c. oats
2 c. water
1/2 c. dehydrated apples, chopped (or 1 apple cored and diced)

Directions:
Stir oats and dehydrated apples into rapidly boiling water. Reduce heat to medium, and boil for 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Cover, and let stand until desired consistency. Add cinnamon, white sugar, and/or brown sugar, if desired.

Apple Crisp


INGREDIENTS:

3 c. boiling water
3 c. dried apple slices (or 6 apples, cored and sliced)
2 c. flour
2 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
2 ½ tsp. salt
2 eggs
1/3 c. butter, melted
DIRECTIONS:
1. Pour boiling water over dried apples. Let stand at least 5 minutes. Place apples on bottom of a greased 9x13 pan.
2. In a bowl add flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Pastry blend in 2 eggs. Sprinkle this mixture on the top of the apples.
3. Drizzle butter over top.
4. Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes
